Employee Spotlight: Magda
Having a great team has been the driving force behind A Space in the City's success over the last 12 years.
As a result, we believe it’s important that you get to know a bit about us.
Starting off our ‘Employee Spotlight’ feature is Magda. Magda is one of our valued Guest Service’s Team Members and regularly the first face you will see when staying with us in Cardiff.
Describe your role within the team:
As a guest services team member my main focus is customer satisfaction but I also believe going above and beyond within my role.
I believe it is important to create an environment of openness, trust and recognition. I feel it is very important to help create a respectful friendly atmosphere for all team members by placing importance on every day moments with the team.
I am also responsible for following up on customer interactions and ensuring that the customer service process is as effective and efficient as possible.
What is your favourite thing about working in Guest Services?
I’m a very open and social person so I love that I get to meet lots of different people each and every day. I enjoy being able to work with guests from the very beginning of their stay to the end, especially when some guests can be staying for up to six months at a time.
Any tips for guests upon their arrival?
I would recommend for any guests that are new to the area to download our Concierge App. It includes up to date information on local eateries, activities and events. In addition, it provides exclusive access to our local discounts offered only to guests of A Space in the City. It’s a great way to get to know the city and experience some of its best attractions at a discounted cost.
What is your favourite thing about Cardiff:
I personally love the city of Cardiff. As it is so compact it means a variety of things are easily accessible. In addition, I’m a big fan of the atmosphere – especially on Rugby days! If I could recommend anything to visitors to Cardiff it would definitely be to take a trip to the shopping arcades in the city centre. The arcades offer a wide variety of independent shops, from record stores to welsh café’s.
What attracted you to the industry?
I studied Hospitality Management and Catering and since then started working in the industry. One of the most defining aspects of this industry is that it focuses on customer satisfaction.
While this is true of nearly every business, this industry relies entirely on customers’ being happy and that’s what we do best!
What do you like to do in your spare time:
I enjoy keeping active by going to gym and I love to socialize with my friends, in particular trips to the cinema.
What is your favourite quote:
Love the life you live, live the life you love.
